Multimedia Specialist (Vacancy)

Under general supervision, is responsible for serving as a multimedia equipment specialist and for participating in media production activities for the City's multimedia platforms, streaming services, and/or cable broadcast channel(s) performs related duties as required.

(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all of the duties that may be performed.)

Sets-up, operates, and monitors the use of video and large sensor cameras, photographic cameras, recorders, sound mixers, microphones, tripods, and computer graphics equipment for a variety of media productions;

Captures aesthetically framed and lit b-roll footage for multi-media producers, meetings, and events;

Records multi-camera events such as meetings, presentations, ceremonies, or press events;

Performs post-production editing of press conferences, meetings and events to include adding titles, graphics, and sound;

Interacts with staff and internal and external agencies while participating in media events and collaborating on the integration of multimedia technology;

Transfers files to servers for broadcasts;

Creates and maintains archive files;

Troubleshoots problems with video and audio equipment and computer hardware/software used in media productions;

Assists with updating and maintaining the Citys website and social media platforms;

Performs routine and operator maintenance/repair on video/audio equipment; schedules maintenance and repair and maintains supply inventories;

Operates passenger vans and other motor vehicles;

Schedules for replay, encodes, or ingests the video signal as digital media either for storage and/or for streaming to air on the City's multimedia platforms, streaming services, and/or cable broadcast channel(s);

May direct and switch live coverage of meetings and events;

May schedule productions, programs, and/or staff;

May conduct brief interviews for social media and news type stories;

Possession of an associates degree in communications, digital communications, cinema and photography, broadcasting, journalism, media studies, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience in professional video, film, or other media production activities (which may include video or film editing, stage or set lighting duties, video camera set-up and operation, audio engineering or recording, or set design or layout). Substitution(s): Additional experience, as specified above, may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Possession of valid drivers license.
